3 Tell-Tale Signs To Look For A New Job

Many people remain in the same job because it’s comfortable and because the idea of looking for a new job is daunting and terrifying. Gone are the days when we were expected to remain in the same job for years without end. Whether it is moving within your company or finding a new job further afield, many people don’t realize that it’s time to move on to greener pastures. There is nothing more damaging to you or the company than an employee that is unmotivated and depressed at work. Here are three tell-tale signs it is time to look for a new job:new job ettiquette

1. You’re Underpaid

We all go to work to get paid! Regardless of whether you love your profession or not, at the end of the day we’re all in it for the money; for financial stability and to pay those pesky bills. Moreover, you need to acknowledge your worth and get paid for what you deserve. Being underpaid will lead to feeling underappreciated and ultimately unmotivated. A level of pay equal to your talents helps you to push yourself forward to excel. If you’re underpaid, then it is a tell-tale sign that you should be looking to change your job to one that you deserve. Talk to your current manager about a pay raise to match your worth, otherwise start looking further afield for an employer who does value what you can bring to a role.

2. You’re Undervalued

Feeling valued at work is one of the biggest motivators to succeed and excel. If you do a great job on a particular project and nobody recognizes your efforts, it’s very disheartening. Recognition and appreciation doesn’t cost a penny but goes a long way. Not only does a pat on the back feel great, but if your boss doesn’t appreciate you, you’re unlikely to get promoted to a higher position or any hope of future growth. In this case it is time to start looking for a new job.

3. Your Company Has Financial Troubles

Always be aware of what is happening in the wider company. If they are having financial troubles, the chances are their future and yours could be on the rocks. Keep your eyes open for other opportunities with companies what are on the rise (not decline). Be proactive in the market place and keep ahead of the game. Regardless of whether you’ve been at your beloved company for years and feel a loyalty not to jump ship, you have to remember to protect your own interests and security. Be proactive and start looking for new job opportunities. You never know it might be the beginning of a new chapter for you.
