The latest version of Adzuna’s ranking of best and worst industries for work finds Accounting and Engineering jobs at the top of the list, flooding the market with opportunities, while IT jobs comes out winning with 18% of advertised job ads in South Africa. This exciting data suggests that South Africa’s tech sector is full of opportunity and innovations. If your looking for a career change, this dynamic sector wouldn’t be a bad place to start looking. This rapidly growing tech market has huge potential to create new jobs and new types of work.
Johannesburg and Cape Town are the top cities in South Africa for tech opportunities with 59% and 16% respectively of all advertised jobs. Johannesburg comes up trumps with an average advertised salary of R475,798, 40% higher than the national average wage.

But it isn’t just the struggling manual labour sectors that dominate the worst industries for work, as many would expect: PR & Advertising only represent less than 2% of available job vacancies in South Africa.
