1.\u00a0Tell Me About Yourself<\/h3>\n

This is a trick question that is normally asked at the beginning of the interview. On face value it sounds like a question you might hear at a drinks party or networking event, but in fact what it is actually asking is \u201cWhy should we hire you?\u201d<\/p>\n

They are not interested about your life story. All that matters to them is a brief account of your RELEVANT education, experience, skills and achievements. Everything you tell them should be convincing them you’re the man\/woman for the job.<\/p>\n

\"Informational<\/a>2.\u00a0What Quality\u00a0Irritates You in Colleagues\/Bosses?<\/h3>\n

Don’t pretend like you’re a saint who doesn’t get annoyed by others. It will make you sound fake. Everyone gets annoyed by something, but equally you don’t want to sound negative and complaining. Respond with something that is pretty neutral and commonly disliked by most people, for example I don’t like naysayers, people who always have something pessimistic to say. You favor ‘problem solvers’ and ‘doers’.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Why Have You Unemployed\u00a0For So Long?<\/h3>\n

It always raises a red flag if someone has been out of a job for a while, it suggests that something is wrong with you. Nobody wants you!<\/p>\n

Turn it into something positive by saying that it was YOUR decision not to settle for a job that wasn’t the perfect fit for you and your career goals.<\/p>\n

People want what they can’t have and if something is in demand, they want it even more. Its a simple\u00a0psychological tactic. Explain that while you’ve been waiting for the perfect fit, recently there have been lots of exciting prospects and you might get snapped up at any time.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Why Did You Not Get Promoted In Your Last Job?\"Interview<\/a><\/h3>\n

The hiring manager will be worried you were not good enough to be promoted in your last job. The best way to get around this is to explain it was YOUR decision. There was the option to be promoted but for personal reasons, such as the added responsibility would disrupt your family life or the promotion was not going in the right direction for your career, you declined.\u00a0Alternatively there may have been NO promotion opportunities which is why you’re searching for a new job. Whatever the reason it is important to have solid references to back up your story.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0What Are You Most Proud Of?<\/h3>\n

This is another trick questions! What the hiring manger is really asking is what are you proud of WORK wise. Not the mountain you recently climbed or your kid who recently got into college. Moreover it must be relevant to the specific job you’re applying for.<\/p>\n

What did you achieve in your last job that will really impress this company for this specific role. It may not be your truthful ‘proudest’ moment, but that is not important.\u00a0Show enthusiasm and as many specific details as possible. Remember that this answer should convince the hiring manager why they should hire you.<\/p>\n

The most important thing to remember when answering interview questions is to keep ALL your answers relevant to the job. Don’t get distracted by telling your personal story.
