JOB DESCRIPTION

  • To grow and maintain Company outlying customer base.
  • To call on local existing customers and find new customers
  • To promote existing and new products as well as specials
  • To see a minimum of 8 PSP’s per month to get a full range of Company products including pipe specified
  • To see municipalities within your designated are and grow our business with these municipalities
  • To assess each customer’s specific needs and fulfil those requirements
  • To address any issues or concerns customers may have
  • To demonstrate products and explain the difference between our products and competitor products
  • To constantly search for new business, in order to assist in the growth of the branch
  • Get leads from customers and follow up on them
  • Arrange demo days with customers for marketing purposes
  • Do quotations and follow up on them within a required period
  • When advised of deliveries in certain areas, follow up with other customers in those areas to increase the amount of sales being delivered to that particular area
  • Arrange customer appointments in advance before doing his calls
  • Report weekly call plan to the Branch Manager one week in advance
  • Report on any changes in the call plan
  • Report on any queries or complaints customers might have
  • Report orders obtained when out on customer calls
  • Complete customer call sheets (with each individual customer)
  • Ensure he is on the road seeing customers as least 80% of the week, the rest of the time spent of planning the week ahead, follow-up, quote etc.
  • Ensure a FULL Days work every day.
  • Use tools supplied by Company like Databuild.
  • Report daily activities on Honey Bee as required by Company.
  • Weekly reporting to Branch Manager using the customer call sheets provided
  • Follow up on Data build web leads
  • Liaise with the rep from Specifying Techniques regarding appointments or demo’s that may need to be held with the Professionals
  • During office days, assist Office Administrator to service walk in customers
  • During office days, assist Office Administrator with telephone calls, quotations and picking of stock for walk in customers
  • Assist with deliveries, where required
  • Assist with tank repairs where required
  • Constantly think about what new products can be developed by us (i.e. water trough, droppers etc)
  • Work overtime where required
  • Assist with month end stock take

REQUIREMENTS

3 Years Sales experience

Own car

Personality: Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior big company executives. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Well-presented and business-like. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team-player.

Specific Job Skills: Able to communicate and motivate via written media. Understands the principles of marketing and advertising cost-effectiveness, including market sector targeting, product offer development, features-benefits-solutions selling, cost per response, cost per conversion, etc. Appreciates need for consistency within company's branding and marketing mix, especially PR and the Internet. Experience of managing marketing agency activities useful.

Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, and ideally Access or similar database to basic level, Internet and email.

Literacy and Numeracy: Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads, etc. Must be a very competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals.

Business and Selling Skills: Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator. Able to demonstrate success and experience managing major accounts customers and large contracts or even a business, particularly achieving genuine sales development. Ideal background would be in business support services; experience of washroom and contract cleaning industries would be particularly helpful. Experience of tenders would also be useful.

Management Ability: Though internal staff management is not initially part of the job, responsibility and opportunity could grow with the development of the business, for example the prospect of recruiting and managing support telesales staff. Some people-management skills, experience and natural ability will be useful.
